Author Topic: Props, and why you hate them?  (Read 3270 times)

So instead of having someone fixing them you all just whine and whine about it?
We did fix it, that's why they're in the fail bin. It's not my job to convert other people's miguided attempts at making a brick into legitimate blb files. That's the author's responsibility.
My point above that was that you can make a TV out of 20+ bricks, or you can plant one brick that makes it for you.
Or you could write them as actual blb files and then they could be transparent, take advantage of hiding covered faces, have correctly rotating textures and be able to build through and around brick properly and be able to place 20000 of them without a problem. Building it out of seperate bricks let's you have more events too.

As for vehicles not being transparent, I'm pretty sure the method used to recolor vehicles does not even support transparent textures.

Why have fakebricks when you can have realbricks?

Woah woah, hold your horses. Even with Zack0Wack0's new obj2blb that would be a terrible idea. Notice how even badspot uses the method props does. Turn on rendering on a tree brick. If you made it into a BLB then youd have a complex mesh BLB that you wouldn't be able to build on what-so-ever.

Badspot does not use the method the prop system uses. The dts shape is only used for a collision mesh. The shape of the model is all done in the blb file. That is why you can have transparent trees.

This is NOT the method prop bricks use, which make a fake inivisble brick and tie a shape to it. So both the collision and the rendering are done by the dts shape instead of splitting the collision into the dts which isn't really that bad and letting the blb file handle all the rendering. TVs and refrigerators wouldn't even dts files, they could just use the basic cube meshes blb files can already make.

Props are pretty much edited jvs doors that don't do anything

What!? Don't tell me you brought the old bricks back!

Triple Nickels can you shut up already.

Anyways, I used to use props. Hell everyone did before we learned about the errors and such.

Isn't Triple nickels an alt of slicksi

I don't mind them, but I think props don't look that nice with bricks.

Tom

BLB bricks are going to be much more useful with RTB 3.4 downloading.

Props show your lack of creativity since you don't want to take the time to use the basic bricks to build an object.

The point of blockland is to build stuff. JVS is applauded because it works well and looks good. Props don't do stuff, they just make things easier, while JVS actually DOES stuff.

Props = no building skill

Ah. Thanks, guys. I didn't know about the console errors, and the bugs. About the lag part, it's never lagged me, so I never had a problem on that end.

Props are laggy, disfunctional, piece-of-crap,DTS-shaped, pure signs of laziness  that shouldn't exist, really. Why can't people build stuff? But I would like to say some of them are good and not so crappy, but the console spam is disgusting.
