Author Topic: Props, and why you hate them?  (Read 3211 times)

I've noticed that just about every time someone posts a pic in gallery, with props in it, people make comments, such as, "Eww. Props."

I for one, like them.
I would like to know why others dislike them.

Tons of console errors.

Tom

they used DTS shapes which could get laggy.

A sign of laziness to some people.

They aren't real bricks. They are actually laggier and buggier than real bricks.

Ah. Thanks, guys. I didn't know about the console errors, and the bugs. About the lag part, it's never lagged me, so I never had a problem on that end.

Tom

I liked some of them, the allowed for high levels of detail.

But the console spam sucked.

  • They bypass all of that effort that was put into optimizing Blockland
  • They have clipping issues with other bricks
  • Their studs rotate with the brick
  • You can't paint them transparent
  • You can build on parts that don't have support because they are modeled as giant squares
  • No brick effects either like undulo or chrome

I don't know what you guys are smoking, but I don't want a whiff of it. Props gives me 0 console errors and honestly it lags less than the brick equivalent for most people. That's like saying "UR LAM FOR HAVING A STATIONARY VEHICLE CUZ U CUD BUILD IT N IT WOULDNT BE A DTS".

Continuing my point:

Vehicles:

  • You can't paint them transparent

You are either making this up or you accidentally read the results backwards because this is absolutely not possible. Go build a house of 2x2 bricks in the Blockland 002. Build the same house in current version. The bricks in the original Blockland are exactly the same as the prop bricks in this version.

More like:
Go build 1 brick in Vanilla, build a house that requires 400 bricks in retail. See which lags more.

That's not a house that's 1 brick. Unless RTB comes with a house brick which I'm pretty sure it didn't.

I don't get your point. Shouldn't people expect bricks to behave consistently? Shouldn't all ramps be able to be painted with the glow effect? You're comparing apples to oranges here, vehicles can't be transparent and have clipping issues because of problems with the way vehicles work. On the other hand prop bricks have problems because they were made wrong.

Blbs are just a way nicer and cleaner way of doing it. Props are buggy and unstable. The only thing that has proplike qualities that are ok are jvs doors, because blbs can't move

On the other hand prop bricks have problems because they were made wrong.
So instead of having someone fixing them you all just whine and whine about it?

You must have no idea what you're talking about at all. You can make vehicles trans, but Badspot didn't want you to have them trans so he disabled it. The same thing was done with props. And, you can compare an apple to an orange since they're both spheres. Vehicles and props are both DTS models. My point above that was that you can make a TV out of 20+ bricks, or you can plant one brick that makes it for you.

Aren't you creative?
