Valve bans people from their entire steam library on a regular basis.  Microsoft bans people from all of xbox live.  This is no different.

Hmm... ok so I know how I can get banned from the forums but what could I do that would be so bad that I would get banned from the game.

Again, violate basic terms of service.  Also, if you're pestering other users then it's going to be taken up by basic judgement to ban you.  Sometimes, however, things like that are taken up to a small claims court (however, it's a game, and hopefully people don't go out of their way that much to reimberse a mere $20)
