I didn't say that if you get stuffty grades you're smart. All I'm saying is that the grades you get in school have a hard time accurately representing how intelligent you actually are because of how those grades are determined.
Grading is not about intelligence. It's an aggregate of test scores, class work, and homework, which, in part, represent the following: Memorization, ability to devote yourself to one task, and organization/time management.
This is not to say that there
isn't* intelligence involved in this process, because if you don't understand the concepts presented then obviously you're going to do poorly on all three things listed above but it is my belief that most schools (especially public) are less about learning and more about honing a particular set of skills for application in the workforce.
