Author Topic: Why was the "planets" map moved to the fail bin?  (Read 4819 times)

How come the map tiled "planets" was moved to the fail bin? I have it and I think that it is a really cool map.

I remember this map...

It was awsome!

I didn't like it

yeah, it is cool. I still have it and will probably be using it for space TDM's

The idea is interesting, but it's hard to pull it off with good quality.

I stole it from Pecon7, the master collector of old and/or failed add-ons. It's too big, I guess

I have it as well.

That's a reason for a map to get banned?

I loving loved this map. I played it once, and it became my favorite map instantly.

Whoever doesn't like it, forget you.

I believe it was moved to the fail bin for being poorly ported, but the map in it's entirety has plenty of issues besides that:

  • Huge file sizes
  • Planetary spacing too large
  • General appearance does not fit BL
  • Interiors problematic and limiting
  • Lacked interesting spaces for exploration/building

...to name a few.

I'm designing a remake for 'The Planets' map that should retain (and enhance) the uniqueness of the original, whilst being easy to use, fun to play on, and less buggy. It will be a complete remake (as in I have no intention of reusing old files).

  • Lacked interesting spaces for exploration/building
Because that's totally required.

I actually think the planet spacing is perfect.
Your welcome.

So you can't just simply jet to the planets. Well you can, but that takes too long.
Arwing ftw.
