Whilst I appreciate that the travel time created by the large separation of planets is a desirable feature, I still feel it can be reduced somewhat to the benefit of the players. I believe you should be able to see all of the locations (IE. planets) within the map from any of those locations and even with an increased view distance this becomes a challenge at the distances I previously set in the original map.
I'll leave the construction of "secret bunkers" to the players, but if the map goes according to plan, you will certainly find plenty of interesting places to build. Planets will likely be smaller, but more detailed.
I intend to post a proper design document in the mapping discussion sub-forum once it is complete and that way everyone can see and comment on the various design changes I have in mind. Keep an eye out for that thread if you want to offer any further input on the project.
