Huge Mall Parking Lots that never get used

Well I've been on map quest planning out my next road trip and saw several huge parking lots with no cars. This has been an annoyance of mine for a while now and I needed to vent it. Anyways they're extremely annoying and sometimes risky to drive around in since some people have no idea how to manuever in a parking lot. I look at these images and well it like for me "what the hell were they thinking". Now i know that holidays may be crowded but then i still see hundreds of open spaces. how do you feel about these lots?

The satellite images weren't taken during the peak shopping periods. You can't expect the parking lot to be full the entire day.
