When you fail a grade can you get it back?

I mean when someone fails a grade, lets say they wanted to catch bakc up or whatever, so they got about a c, b average, and then could they ask to take a test to qaulify for the next grade so it would be as if they were in the grade, or they didn't fail. Just so they would be placed in the grade they were originally in? Is this possible, and i mean in the USA.

Before you were born, there was a thing called summer school. but then the economy crashed and they got rid of it. But at my highschool you can take a 7th period to get credits for the class you failed.

Dude don't you get it, i don't need my grade up right now this year, i need to be a up an actual grade, not worried about failing again, i am worried that i am going to stay left in the grade i am heading to and it will suck.

I really hope not :C i was stupid then and didn't do stuff so i failed and now i wish i wouldn't have :C

I mean like instead of going on to eight i would go on to ninth.

That would be skipping an entire grade.

Unless you're a genius, and you've proved you're too advanced for this current level, you can't normally do that. Maybe if your middle school goes up to 9th grade, but I severely doubt it if your High-school starts at 9th. They have to get placements and what not set rather early, in addition to the fact you wouldn't have that extra year of learning with you.
