Author Topic: My TV just freaked me the forget out  (Read 2515 times)

Currently 2:16am

I'm sitting on my bed, everyone's asleep, and I'm surfing the net with my tv on but muted. Out of the corner of my eye, I see numbers on the screen like the channel is being changed. I look at the remote right in front of me. Multiple 6's were put in, but my channels don't go very high, so it went to channel 66. Channel 66 doesn't exist, so it just sat there on the "no signal" screen. I changed it back to 58, and nothing has happened since.

I live near the interstate and interference from trucker's cb radios mess with stuff like that, but it never effected TVs and hasn't really effected anything recently.

What the forget happened?

Edit: The remote was next to my phone. Could that have any correlation?

At least you didn't put your hand through it and enter a whole new dimension with a talking bear.

As strange as it sounds, that was a serious post.

ALMOST 666, A DEVIL IS IN THE TV The phone probably did something if it was really close, if not then i am not sure.

I remember when my computer shut down at 23:00 for no reason. Same thing happened a few days later.

Coincidences :)

Remote could have near-dead batteries.
Mine does it all the time when the batteries are low, it starts spazzing out.

I was playing L4D2 once and TV shuts off.

Remote could have near-dead batteries.
This or your TV might have water in it.
It happened to my TV before but instead the volume and channels were forgeted up.

HTC phones lack IR transmitters, so your phone couldn't have screwed anything up.

I dunno, weird stuff has happened to me too. At my old house, my TV would often turn itself on and start changing channels and controlling itself. If you tried to use the remote or the buttons on the TV to turn it off or change the channel while this was happening, nothing would happen, and it would keep spazzing out until you unplugged it.

There was also this weird thing with this cordless phone at my old house. The phone would often start ringing, but it would only ring once, and nothing would show up on the screen. None of the other phones would ring. Other times, it would turn on "page" mode by itself, even though the page button was never pressed, so you have to actually turn on page mode and turn it off on the main phone in order to get it to turn off.

Creepy as hell.

There's your problem, sir.

It's the norm for me.

Edit: 66 is now showing a channel.

Holy relics of godly might!

But seriously, creepy stuff.

I was playing FEAR and my room light started flickering then asploded

The television in one of our bedrooms gets interference from computers/tvs/etc.  I was watching a show a while ago when the screen went to half-static, half-show and then it looked as if you put a 50% trans overlay of some livestream on top of it, there was a face looking straight at me.  I was freaked out, and turned off the tv.  :\  Now I usually just get commercials.

I remember at night the radio in my room suddenly turned on, then my TV, and my Xbox followed.

Somewhat off-topic, but:
My PC always turns itself on. It's not anything paranormal, but the damn BIOS is so corrupt on this thing or something. When you put it into sleep mode, two seconds later, it'll wake back up. If you tell it to shut down, it'll turn off for a few minutes, then turn back on. If you hit the power switch in the pack that cuts off all power, the thing will shut down, then try to turn back on again, wasting all the power in the power supply, and being forced off. As soon as you give power to the machine, it turns on.
