So, in three days I am officially done with my Spanish I class. We have a major part of our grades coming in as presentation points, and we've two actual speeches where we get up and speak in front of our class. The first one was required to be a minute long, and I wrote it, timed myself and got 1:06. However, when I got up in front of the class and then finished it, I totaled only around 0:47. Today, I presented a five minute speech in Spanish which was obviously supposed to be five minutes long. I timed it a few times on my own and got close to six minutes, unintentionally. When I read it, I only got 4:54 (counted as five, 15 seconds = 1 point out of 20 points).
I've figured out that when I speak in front of people, I must get so nervous I talk way faster, so I have to subtract twenty seconds out of every minute I "speak."
What are speeches like for you?
