Author Topic: The Tatooine Project (Mos Eisley) WIP- 3 PARTS DONE! :D:D:D:D  (Read 14269 times)

We'll probably end up demolishing half the set due to lag, just the scenes from New Hope Works.

Frankly, this is disappointing.

I initially thought that this was going to be detailed and of very high caliber. From what I've seen, though...
you're duping a bunch of boxy and simple buildings everywhere.

I know, I know, the old "WELL ITS BIG SO DETAIL CAN'T EXIST" excuse.

But if you're really using this to film a movie, you'd be far better off taking the time to make really detailed builds of the sections you need. This is just yuck all around. I can only imagine that if it looks like this from the overview, it must look even worse close up.

It was a valiant effort, and a neat idea too, but definitely lacking in execution.

I'll have you know we're two years behind in production, so we'll take what we can get.

why wouldn't you just ask for a high-detail facade?

Oh forget you

Seriously, why don't you just build the parts they'll be shooting in and put detail in those areas?

Right back at you :3

No but really, there's no reason to waste time building stuff no one will see and end up with an overall stufftier end product.

This whole thing is for area view. But when close up on the streets, we will put in a stuffload of effort.

I would love to join.

SERVA NAME?

Cucumberdude has made a valid point. If my memory serves me correctly, most scenes of Mos Eisley shown in the film were closeups and the small selection of "birds-eye-view" shots were performed using scale models or CGI.

My suggestion would be to make focused, detailed, set locations and use a 1/2 or 1/4 scale build of the entirety of Mos Eisley for the aerial views. You'll waste less time, it may offer a boost in performance if you are filming on lower-end hardware, and it won't look rushed. The only significant disadvantage to this approach is that you can't have any "fly-in" shots going directly from an aerial view to a close-up; this will likely not be an issue as I do not remember any scenes like that in the original trilogy.

Oh, well in that case, we have to ask swholli/packer what they're filming.
