i don't believe the charge would be all that excessive depending on what your intentions were with said "bomb". typically kids put them in mailboxes and stuff, and thats what would get you the felony. if you were just setting it off in your backyard for the noise, you'd probably get disturbance of the peace, and a few others. nothing too terrible.
