On Topic: I don't think anyone's ever documented this. Like Burple, I believe it could be textures. You should just re-install.

I'm not sure of the cause but this has been documented time and time again.

All you have to do is restart the game.

I had the same problem, but when I got v15, it stopped.

Weird trails / uncleared buffer in bedroom or kitchen - v15 automatically lowers your view distance if you are getting less than 20 fps.  Low view distances do not work well in interiors.  You can disable this feature in options->advanced by unchecking "Automatic Draw Distance Adjustment"
