Author Topic: My dad has a virus on his computer. It dates back to 1989. Yeah, 1989.  (Read 1655 times)

Before Windows XP can even boot, it freezes the computer with this on the screen:

Code: [Select]
:) :)

                       Bloody!

                                       Jun. 4, 1989.

I looked up the date, and 6/4/89 was the date of the Chinese Army's Tiananmen Square massacre of college students. The virus is a DOS virus, and I have no clue how it's happening. His HDD partiton type is NTFS; I don't think DOS programs can run in NTFS.

It activates after 128 restarts of the computer, so this must've been a long time ago when he got it.

Anyone have any ideas? I can't do anything.

Oh god. :o
Reinstall Windows?

Just making 100%, but you can't even get it into SafeMode?

that is one awesome script kiddie

No, it barely passes the BIOS.

if you googled Tienanmen Square while in china, you get only pro political and useless historical facts.
nothing about the massacre lol.

Thanks guys. He's had this virus before apparently. He didn't really read the wiki page and he still knew it was from the 90s.

I love how one version of the virus has the location and name of the guy who made his variant. Calling card to kick his ass.

Anyway, found any solutions yet? We're too lazy to help.

You got computer raped by a virus from the 80s.

That's like getting your ass kicked by a grandma.
