Author Topic: Worst call in MLB history.  (Read 1540 times)

Last night, Detroit Tiger's Armando Galarraga is one out from pitching a perfect game against the Cleveland Indians when the 1st base umpire Jim Joyce misses the call.

If you don't watch baseball, a perfect game is the starting pitcher allowing no base runners through all 9 innings. Twenty-seven up, twenty-seven down. There have only been 20 perfect games in the MLB since 1880. This would have been the 21st.

Here's the video of talking about the missed call.

Replays clearly show the runner was out, but that's not how the umpire saw it. A perfect game ruined on the last out. This was heart wrenching to watch as a huge baseball fan.

You're back? Damn.

On-Topic: Meh.

I'll make sure that umpire doesn't forget something up again.....

Hello older member :D

I watch baseball, but I also play it, and we lost one game when I threw a past ball and I covered home, the kid didn't even touch the plate and he called him safe.

I hope that umpire was fired for being a dumbass.

Count on copyright laws to ruin things that are causing no harm. -_-

That really sucks.

I'm not that big of a fan of baseball, but having played the sport (And being from MI), I know the feeling. My condolences to Mr. Galarraga.

Thats loving retarted, you can clearly see hes out in the replay, what is this stuff
What does is matter what the umpire said, its clearly shown in the replay?

How can they not count it

:o I kinda feel sorry for the guy he did apologize, after all.

Offtopic: Anyone gonna watch the NBA finals tonight?

I guess since they don;t currently use replay for safe or out calls, they don't want to reverse the call after the game is done. Their logic is they might as well revoke all of missed calls throughout the history of the league.
