We might make it into an album cover--not the exact same thing, but we intend on altering it a lot before we actually use it like that.

This was the result of about an hour of doodling, it's nothing amazing but I felt it deserved its own topic. Tell me what you think, please. =)

Love it. Cracks/veins/whatever on the wings stand out a little too much though.

Thanks haha, I actually wanted them to, but okay, I'll consider that when editing it for the possible album cover and shizz.

That's really cool. I like it...
Woulda been cooler if it was a furry :/

Looking good but yeah Regulith was right about those marks on the wings.

I think the wings are great and how they stand out is perfect.

I would like it a LOT more if the outline wasn't shaded. It looks like you put some stuffty photoshop effect on it to make the lines bulge (not saying you actually did)

aside from the outlines which really really bug me, it's good for the most part though I think it'd look better if you made the eye stand out more, to exadgerate it as a focal point.

Well, yeah, I see what you mean. However, with the eye--it's not really the focal point. It's the whole thing that you should be focusing on.. The eye just happens to be a tiny bit more important than the rest, but it's all really important. Thanks for the feedback though. heh.

Awesome, you never fail to impress me.

It's the whole thing that you should be focusing on.
Well then that's a problem. Focal points are a basic skill for all artists.

Btw, the reason people tend to focus on the wings as mentioned earlier is because it has less of those lines on it. Instead of being a mess, the wing is a pretty shade of red with less ugly line clusterforgetage. the color in the wings are more evident because it's not as riddled in multishade grey lines.

another big problem is that it's very hard to distinguish one part from another around the right hand area. you really have to focus in order to discern when the jaw ends and when the hand begins, and I didn't even notice the other wing until later on. That wing doesn't even look like it's attached to the rest of the munster.

Oops, ment to hit preview.

if I could make you do any 3 things to this drawing, it'd be:

making smoother, cleaner lines that were only 1 color.

Make it where the wing flesh is a different color than the rest (unless the wings are just supposed to be giant, extremely flat bones, which I hope they aren't)

make a focal point.

whenever I look at this, I find my eyes just wondering about, not wanting to focus on this picture and instead save themselves the ache.

I agree with everything else, but you just made no sense, at all.
The focal point is the whole thing. It's simple. The eye shouldn't be the focal point, it's not important. The whole thing is the important thing. Derp.

Edit because of your edit, lol:
Well okay, I kind of already got that. It's going to be re-edited, btw. So don't worry. It's going to look better as a "finished product."

You either don't understand the concept of focal points or you're trying really hard to convince yourself there is no problem.

If the entire thing is the focal point, there is no focal point. It's just like if every body is special in the same way, then nobody is special.

Quote
A focal point is the element in a painting that pulls in the viewer's eye, that is the center of attention or the main subject. You can emphasize a focal point through the painting's composition, through color, and through the range of tones  you use.
There is nothing in your picture that draws my eye. My eyes just want to stop looking at your picture because they have nothing to latch onto.

It's impossible to focus on this entire picture at once, it's too big. For a smaller and more simple picture, our forum avatars for instance, that problem isn't the case. Pictures like our avatars CAN be focal points in their entirety, large and detailed pictures such as yours can NOT.

I understand this and the image is just not detailed enough to have a separate focal point than the whole thing.

you can't be serious.
