Author Topic: Solo Project Rant.  (Read 1712 times)

So today while working on my RPG, I decided i need the rest of today off from working on it. It's really irritating working on a solo project, and a WIP one, and people decide to connect to check it out, Then ask for stuff, and to help build. I was working on it when Rocket came on and asked "I would like to help build this, Here's proof of my skill:" and linked me to the New World Builder clan page. Honestly, I don't give two stuffs if you're in a clan, Linking me to your page isn't proving anything, only that you're in a clan. There is so much that i could rant about, But i'm just going to keep it short.

Anyone else annoyed by some of the smallest things like this?

(Also, Before you say "Host it passworded", I build it publicly so people can point out small bugs that i missed).

I think it's stupid not to let people help.

I think it's stupid not to let people help.

Why? It'd be just a little annoying have 22 people running around building an RPG, without knowing the right variables, build style, and overall just being stupid.

I don't want people that barely know wtf im building covering my build in 1x1s, is that stupid?

Well, people don't always have the same building style, skills, or attitude towards the build as the creator does. Plus, then there may be an issue with who gets credit for what, as well as the issue of having to supervise everyone that is helping. I, personally, don't like group builds when I'm supervising (That is, the main structure is a group effort), as if i don't like something, I feel bad asking people get get rid of it or change it, and it is hard when one person is very serious about the build, another is much too mellow, and I am doing it fairly seriously, but mostly for fun. :c

OK, so explain it to them, and only let a couple friends, like, three or four help.

So show them how it's supposed to be before you they start. And who cares about credit?

Only let friends help.

That and the fact that some people would just place bricks to cheat their way on the RPG :/.
I personally like soloing more then working in groups when building. Because i get weird about other peoples designs making my designs look odd, along with theirs. Basically, i solo just so everything looks like it's meant to be together.

I don't have any friends that are really serious about RPGs.

I know exactly how skill feels.

OK, then, host a private server and then when you finish an area, or something, host it publicly and get advice.

Why are you so anti-solo?

I know exactly how skill feels.
Me too. It's difficult having all those people running around and you trying keeping track of everything, going over events, destroying/rebuilding, etc. It's just more stress and work. Though, at least they mean well, and sometimes it isn't so bad. c:

He raped himself on a solo build once? :o

Why are you so anti-solo?

Maybe he's lonely in real life so he hate being alone on BL.

I never do solo projects anymore, but when I did they were always in singleplayer.

How many times have people even pointed out problems in your build? And even if they did, I have a feeling you didn't even do what they said.

Make it not public while you build it, and when you're done you can make it public so people can explore at point out problems.
