As Qwepir said, the odds are astronomical that our planet is the only planet in the universe that can support life. But man's life here on earth is also astronomically short.

Human like beings have existed much longer. Australopithecus anamensis specimens are in the range of 3.9 to 4.2 million years old. But there are many questions as to how "human" these beings were.

This is an extremely short period of time compared to how old the universe is.

The chances that there are other "living" things out there are extremely high, but the chances of us meeting any of them in this short period of existance are extremely low.

Hey, maybe there are and maybe there aren't. It's always possible either way. Anyways, I believe in other intelligent species of life out there, that they have technology better than us (such as time/space travel) which would explain how they got to earth so easily.
