Author Topic: Switching Cases - Good Idea?  (Read 934 times)

I'm wanting to transfer to a new case.  (My current one sucks, the door came off, and I would rather have something better.)  I'm considering switching to an Antec 900/2.  First off, which should I go with, and second, I've fryed two motherboards doing this.  I think the cause was the stuffty cooler I had. (it was a screw-in thing from asia vital parts or w/e) Now I'm using a stock intel cooler. So what are my chances of destroying another? I guess I'm less likely to, because I did it once while putting in my new cpu, and I screwed up pins, but didn't break the mobo, and now that that's done right, I guess it's much easier.  Should I upgrade?

I dunno, if it's just cosmetic issues I'd suggest just dealing with it. I just finished my first build (well, it's almost done, just troubleshooting) and I can only imagine how hellish it would be to transfer everything from one case to another.

It's easy when you're not stupid. So I don't know about you two. :cookieMonster:

Just don't break anything and make sure everything is connected properly. I've case switched a few times before.

Well, when I move my PC, the door always comes off.  I want the lack of door and better cooling.

@ Otis: I guess I'm a lot more competent than I was before.  I would pay a lot more attention to connections.

Maybe hellish wasn't the right word.

Time consuming, tedious work.

There.

I don't agree.  It's just unhook some wires, unscrew a lot, unsnap, move, snap, screw, connect wires, check, run.

Ya, it only takes like an hour max.

I did it for my friend's computer. Easy if you know what you are doing.

I would rather have a window.  Also, I think I've seen the 900 for cheaper.

Found the 690 II new for 72 bucks.

I found a window you can buy separately, for only $20. I'm still looking for cheaper prices. Gimme a sec.
