Author Topic: Trying to run BL in ReactOS in VPC04, if my graphics card would work with it.  (Read 461 times)

I decided to install ReactOS 0.3.11 "For Workgroups" (lol @ 1993windowsreference), since it was something like Windows 2000/XP and Linux fused together.

I'm running it in Virtual PC 2004, and I'm having no luck with installing the guest additions. My GPU isn't liking VPC04 too much, there are lines everywhere, and the mouse cursor updates once or twice every second; the keyboard works fine. If I can get the guest additons installed, I'll update you guys on it.

If you're wondering why I'm using VPC04, instead of VPC07, the guest additions of VPC07 have no entry for being or not being compatible. However, VPC04's was compatible, so I chose it over VPC07.

Anyways, I'll try to run BL with 384 MB of RAM if this gets finished installing. I can't go any higher, or Windows throws a fit about not having enough god damn memory.

Did I mention ReactOS is only about 50MB in size? :o

I decided not to do this, after reading that NTFS cannot be seen in ReactOS; my XP and Ubuntu partitons are in NTFS filesystems, and that 3D acceleration is not very good. [Ubuntu via Wubi on a 15GB NTFS partiton.]

Oh, well. Maybe I'll try again 8+ months from now. :P

Good luck.

Omfg, not a double toast. ololo.

It completely ignored the Windows guest additions, maybe I'll try the DOS ones, if those don't work, then I'll try the OS/2 ones.

EDIT: Those wouldn't even open. :P I'll go back to 0.3.10 and see if they'll work then.
DOUBLE EDIT LIKE A MINUTE LATER: I never saw the preinstalled QEMU image. hmm...
LOLWTF TRIPLE EDIT: Network doesn't get along well with QEMU... off to downloading the BL Demo onto a USB.
4TH EDIT: QEMU isn't doing so well with my USB either. I'll go back to my 0.3.10 idea.
5TH EDIT: 0.3.10 hangs when trying to select a partiton, maybe 0.3.9 will do the trick?
If I can't install 0.3.9, I'll install ReactOS alongside Windows.
6TH EDIT: Yep, I've got to install ReactOS 0.3.11 alongside Windows. Thanks Microsoft, for making a wonderful program where it doesn't work with stuff.
