Author Topic: Thunderstorm = Power Surge = No Router = No Wireless Internet = Sadface  (Read 3417 times)

It's a Catastrophie!

Because of a power surge which occured during a thunderstorm, I am left without a working router.
I can no longer play my PS3 or browse the web on my laptop. I am sadface.

My router is busted now, so I'm in the market for a new one.
What kind would you reccomend?

Lots of people have been talking about experiencing these same thunderstorms.
Maby you know what I'm talking about. Hopefully your haveing more luck getting through this bad weather than I.

I've bypassed my router by plugging my desktop computer directly into my modem.

He said router, not modem. All a router does is split the internet connections among computers.

Chriz, what's wrong with you today? You're grumping all over the player.

forget, damn it all to mother loving hell. I was right, anyway, bish.

Uh...Belkin? Linksys? Or motorola I guess. I don't know I use my ISP provided router.

If your ISP provided you with a router call for a replacement.

Before I had a Linksys. It was a good router until it crapped out on me like this, but I guess it's not its fault. :P

I'll probably just get another Linksys to replace it.

Get something that'll protect it from power surges too.

Surge protectors, yeah those.

I loving hate storms for this reason.

You can say that again.

My brother has had multiple computers become fried pieces of metal on at least 2 occasions. Somehow I always seem to be fine, except one time when the power went out right in the middle of a game in Dawn of War Dark Crusade, and the only problem happened when it tried to play the one voice file it was trying to play when the power went out. It crashed for that one voice file once and never again. I found it odd.

My schools power was out all day today, and they kept us in because of finals
It was so hot, and everyone was sweating so the entire school smelt like stuff. Oh, and when I bought my lunch the lunch lady had to add up what I was ordering with paper and pen. It was so ghetto :(

OMGWTFBBQ. Looks like you beat me to it this time :P

Everything Ive said was in past tense lol
I HAD school, this happened like 10 hours ago

Personally, a D-link router and Uninterrupted power supply will not only protect your router in the future, but give you internet for another hour while your power is off.

What I have anyway :P
