Author Topic: Record for Long-Distance Sniper Kills.  (Read 5629 times)

The world record for sniper kills was set at 1.54 miles, 2 kills, by a British soldier in Afghanistan. The weapon he used was a Accuracy International L115A3, also known as an AWM (Arctic Warfare Magnum), also known as...

...the AWP.

In all seriousness though that's really impressive.

It's a little late, but I did some research on impulse and lol'd at the results.

I saw a special on snipers on the history channel and it had this in it.

I''m pretty sure the world record for the longest sniper kill was conducted by Corporal Rob Furlong (British soldier) using this weapon.

Yeah I've seen this before, he didn't use an AWM. He used some other sniper

Was that the one where he shot through a concrete wall and killed 3 insurgents who were taking cover on the other side?

Incorrect:

The shots -- measured via GPS -- surpassed the previous record held by Canadian Army Cpl. Rob Furlong, who killed an al Qaeda gunman from 7,972 feet in 2002.

You're wrong, you dullard.

sniping is for girls, and any man who snipes is a friend/gay/roostery friend.

This source here says the TAC-50 holds the record.

http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn74-e.htm

"TAC-50 rifle is also credited with longest range documented kill on enemy soldier: in 2003, a Canadian sniper shot and killed an Afghani taliban insurgent from the range of 2430 meters (nearly one and a half mile)."

Saw a TV show on that, didn't he jam American bullets in his clip because they fly farther or something like that?

No fair he was camping.

Damn, even if the bullet traveled at muzzle velocity from the barrel to the target it would've taken almost three loving seconds for a bullet to hit from 1.5 miles with an AWP.

Also, I wonder what the record is in a non-combat situation.
