I doubt that would work in puzzles, there isn't much to the thing.  Also, the pulling Excursion Funnel basically replaces it.

Cave Johnson here, introducing the Blockland version of our newest tech here at Aperture. The science guys say it makes you read this in MY voice.

Cave Johnson, we're done here.
Goodnight Caroline.

the commentary said something about using the vents as the elevators instead :o

loving hell mega you need to hug me :c

Wait, when?

No no, it talked about how the new elevator uses the vent system that also moves boxes, spheres, and other Aperture products. AKA You're worth as much to them as the turrets and such they send throughout the facility.

ur a commentary :c

And you're a scientist in a little pink bra, or however Cave says that line.

Yeah I agree, I was kinda sad they removed it at first but then I realized "Those puzzles would suck... you basically get rid of any unwanted obstacles with a giant fan.. no strategy at all"

Would be fun to mess with in a Portal Playground map though.

There would still be strategy and all that. Heard of the Hover Turret? It can follow you. Imagine making it follow you over a portal floor and sucking it out. Not everything was meant to be stationary. I hope it all appears in the DLC.

I did hear of it, but obviously that would be kind of a dumb NPC and never made it to the game anyways.

And there might be strategy, but what I meant was Puzzles.  There is no puzzling thinking when there's an obvious tube hovering over a portal surface and a bunch of turrets blocking your way.  The instant thought is "hey, I think I should just get rid of all these dumb turrets with this huge SUCKY THING LOL"

Think about it a little more before you criticize. Also, the Hover Turret is fully functional. The model just isn't in the game, si it's a big floating "ERROR." The DLC might add the model and activate it. It's also an enemy... not NPC... I tend to think of NPCs as friendly, talking characters, though.

I'm pretty sure you find all the enemies in Gmod under "NPC" so it really doesn't matter how friendly it is.  I did think about it and I read that wiki, I know it's fully coded without a model.  I personally think having a floating lazer following you around and burning you would be stupid and annoying and would have no useful puzzle aspect to it at all.  Running away from some obnoxious floating lazer while trying to solve a puzzle would be handicapped, and even so if you could kill them, thinking of a way to kill the annoying floating lazer as it's being annoying and following you would also be quite annoying.

You could argue the same for all testing elements if you're stubborn enough. I bet $12.32 if all that was included from the start, you would barely give mind to it.
