I needed Windows for my old laptop, it ran Windows 98. I like Windows XP because it's great for gaming.
What?  Windows XP is the worst commonly used Windows OS for gaming.  If you really want to be gaming on a non-ancient computer, you go for Windows 7.  It's a common mistake to say Windows XP is good for gaming.  Windows Vista/7 support DirectX 10 and 11 while XP doesn't.  Not to mention the fact that Vista and 7 give more system resource to games.  The reason they take so many resources is because it takes them up while it's the only thing running.  It's like sharing something.  The other programs want ram and need it more, so windows gives them some.  When they're not there windows takes up the rest because it doesn't need to give them out.  So basically, XP isn't that great for gaming.

Yeah, that's a good excuse to use XP, if it cannot run Vista/7.  Then I guess you don't need DirectX 10/11 or any new features like that.

It does, it had great game support.
it doesnt have pixel shader 3.0
which means it cant play most advanced games nowadays.
it can play old games and indie games, and most steam games, but not any "modern" games.

If you have Linux CD, use that to download drivers.

The different versions don't change that.

I'm downloading them to a flash and installing them to the laptop.
With Professional it doesn't allow immediate wired connection.
