Author Topic: Internet Opinions  (Read 1444 times)

My family has AT&T for internet, TV, and phone, and lately we've finally had it with them. Everything intermittently goes out from minutes to hours, and AT&T has provided no help except to tell us in an Indian accent to unplug and re-plug our router. Anyway, we're switching everything, and the last thing we need to decide on is internet (and possibly switch our TV and/or phone depending on package prices). I want your opinions about experience with some of the bigger companies that provide internet around me, mainly Wide Open West (WOW), Verizon, and Comcast (and any other ones that you like or know provide service in southern Michigan). I've collected the prices of everything in my area but I want to know how the service is.

Verizon. Coming from a person who can only get one of the ISPs you provided.

forget yea Verizon FiOS.

When we were with Verizon we got one of our phones stolen and they wouldn't let us disconnect it without charging $200 for breaking contract. Then whoever stole it charged roughly $1,080 worth of text messages to our bill and Verizon wouldn't take it off, they basically said "Oh well, too bad." We refused to pay it (mainly because we don't have that much money to throw away right now) and switched to AT&T.

tl;dr: forget Verizon.

If you can get FiOS from verizon in your area I suggest that, if not comcast.

I have Cableone. Good internet, decent phone, stuffty TV.

roosters

I've got Cox, and It rarely goes out, and they always have/send a message why if it does.

loving comcast/roadrunner
slowest loving internet ever burdened upon mankind

Charter. That's what I have. Also, where do you live in MI?

FIOS will occasionally go out, but very VERY rarely.  When it does, it lasts, at the most, 10 minutes.  The last time I've had my internet crash was maybe back in February.

As far as TV and Phone service goes, I'm not sure if I can compare it to anything since I don't pay attention to how much it costs.

I have AT&T.

I thought it was good for stable internet. Unlike road runner. :(
