Author Topic: My Playstation 3 malfunctions, right after warranty expires.  (Read 2740 times)

I bought my 80gb CECH01 console in May 2009, and last night, I may have experienced the very fatal 80010514 error. It means that that the hard drive is corrupted, and when I play a game, it experiences a lot of corruption like missing audio, non-rendering graphics, etc.  then crashes. I have tried multiple games, and it does it for every one. I might get it repaired, but it will cost 100$ about (plus 20$ secure shipping), and I am saving for a new computer. I could maybe post pictures, but not right now. I don't think this belongs in games, because I am not talking about a game. If any of you have an idea about what I am talking about, and know any useful info, it would be appreciated.

Its ok because ps3 has no games

I would of posted something that bashes both xfriends and the sonydefense force but I didn't save it,

Sony actually has good customer service, i would get it repaired, because if i still doesnt work when you get it back, they refund, and give a free repair.

Maybe, but my warranty expired, and I'm not quite ready to dish out 100 bucks for a repair. It is also an internal system error, so it might cost even more.

Uhh, that's not a hard drive issue. That's a problem with the Blu-Ray Disc player.

Blu ray disc player is the entire ps3.

simple fix.

Make any save backups, if you can.

1. Press and hold the power button.
2. Wait until you hear a few beeps.
3. Let go of the button after the beeps.
4. Your PS3 should now be in a Debug mode.
5. On the screen, it should say something bout the PS button on the controller.
6. Turn the controller and go to reformat hard drive, or something like that.
7. Reformat, setting the PS3 as if you just bought it.
8. Add me on PSN: Skateaton
9. ????
10. Profit

If you can't go into debug mode, google it, if you can't find a result, google how to reformat your PS3.

That's not going to fix the Blu-Ray drive, which is the problem here. That'll just reformat the PS3.

Buy a new one. Go to Sony support. I don't know.

I'm gonna test to see if it is hard drive or blu ray by trying to play a DvD. I'll post the results later.

Same thing happened to me. I did that, and it worked. If it says the harddrive is corrupted, this will fix it.
