Author Topic: If you played Blockland in 2005, you might find this interesting…  (Read 2839 times)

i know you TBM guys really cant let it rest, but seriously. blockland version 0002 loving sucks. it was terrible in its day and more so now.
you cant build the community back up, no matter how many time you kids come here linking this stuff time and time again.

..and this is exactly what I was talking about. Let what rest? I don't care! I'm not here to fight or build any sort of community up, I'm just here to share some files I thought people would find interesting. As far as I know, no one has released these files before. Maybe I'm wrong though.

there is nothing secret and special about the mod. we all know how to get it if we want it.

but we dont want it. we have a better game now, and nostalgia was actually painful because the old game lacked nearly 100fold what we have now.

I'm not saying there is anything secret or special about the mod. All I said was that I was releasing scripts I thought people would find interesting because they were the original source files and not the compiled scripts that came included in the mod.

That's fine if you don't want it, and that you have a better game now. That's why I posted this in the Off-Topic section of the site (which I hope was the most appropriate category).

Well I sense this is a controversial some how, but I guess I gotta ask, what was TBM and what's Bisjac talking about?

I made this account with the intention of using it to share these files. I've just been busy the last couple of days, so I got around to posting it tonight.
Then what is your main account?

Also, having multiple accounts is not allowed on these forums.

People don't wish to know the original source files. People who do wish to know are torque programmers and they'd rather get it from the main website. No one will find it interesting in this forums. Please lock.

TBM (like RTB) was a big mod for the old version .0002 blockland. before retail.
but those guys put in scripts to forget with "competitor" mods you might have also been using on your blockland, so it was banned from these forums. and usually TBM supporters were as well.

since then, for these years, TBM cigarettes have been starting community after community. alt after alt.
relinking the damn TBM download a million time. thinking they will bring more users on the game.

but BL 0002 sucked ass. even with a super computer, you lagged at 1200 bricks. and was extremely unfinished alpha version.
why anyone would think it could be any fun at all now that we have the real blockland, is beyond me.

------------
I can guarantee you we know X, hes been here plenty before. likely a banned person from another name.
and whoever is it, his shenanigans about TBM is nothing new.

Wait, are you loving serious?
These guys actually want to play an alpha, un-updated version of the game?
Why would they do that?

1) its free
2) ?

What's so great about v0 blockland compared to v15 blockland with RTB?

the only cool thing was the modeling.

it was impossible under any circumstances to build over maybe 1500 bricks in a single area.
so the ghetto fix that the main mod's used, was to allow you to stretch and tilt any brick in any way.
make a 1x1 into a entire wall if you wanted.

but this wasn't lego building. and was just a buggy mess of textures and clipping.
and even then, you couldn't use that ability to build the epicness we can now with retail blockland.

0002+mods is a joke of a game. but the master server still allows people to join each others games and for free.
so if you want to see some stuff, you can play with the other four, 12 year olds who's moms wouldn't let them use a credit card to buy a game.

I actually have several mods on my hard drive from the old blockland days

stunt blockland
rtb
lanhoj's all-in-one
a-mod
blockland mods 1.2(holy crap that was old...)
and vanilla blockland...

not that I ever play them.

Yep…that pretty much sums it up. I'm actually amazed that people still play it, but hey, if they enjoy it, then let them have their fun. People did build some pretty incredible things at the time given the limitations, even with the scaling stuff.

I'm actually kind of interested in getting back into the game. This summer is boring, and although I have school and work, I'm having trouble finding stuff to do on my free time. Maybe I'll get back into making bricks and maps for Blockland? We'll see…
