Cause the USA team was never really good before this year, so they're making a good run in the World Cup. People actually have something to be excited about. Not to mention it's only once every four years.

I think that soccer is popular among the youngins so much because overprotective moms don't want their kids beating the stuff out of eachother in REAL football so they force their kids to play a non-contact sport where the ball is usually on the ground.
