Author Topic: Here at AVG, we MAKE you restart!  (Read 1334 times)

AVG updated overnight, and I turn on my computer to see:

"AVG cannot update critical processes while the system is running."
Hm. I could've sworn that it's been able to update stuff like that without restarting before.

Then it asks me if I want to restart now, or postpone a restart 5, 10, 30, or 60 minutes.

Where's the frickin "Never" button.

I know a work-around though. Haha AVG, nice try.
[Open Notepad up and bang your head on the keyboard a few times, then leave it alone. It'll ask if you want to save, click "Cancel", and it cancels the reboot.]

Would this be a rant? I'm only saying this because of how long it take my computer to boot up.

Windows MAKES you update sometimes

My computer takes ~10 minutes to boot up so I'm always pissed when I have to restart  :cookieMonster:

Mine takes about that long too, but I think I know why.

Trying to make XP look like Windows 7. Yeah.

EDIT: I also forgot AVG, iTunes, Spybot Search & Destroy, Yahoo! Widgets, and Steam aren't helping much either.

Get it restarting and go DO SOMETHING ELSE for a few minutes so it can update.

Idiot.

I don't think he has anything else lol

Let's find something for him to do. :D

Vista never forces updates on me.  It always asks for admin approval first.

Just like everything else.  It gets tedious hitting the OK button 3 times.

Avg never needed to restart for me. Its only a pain if Im in the middle of something since my computer takes less than a minute to start up.

My computer will suddenly turn off when I play games. No idea what it is...

Overheating.

Overheating most likely.

Edit: dammit seb. Maybe I shouldnt post from my Zune HD...

When I bought GTAIV, I had to do all that stupid Games for Windows LIVE stuff and it said I needed to restart for some updates to take effect. I'm like "k fine" and follow its directions to save first. I go to save and it tells me I need to be logged into LIVE to save. I try and log in and it tells me I need to restart for the updates.

Funny, as I was reading your post, the little bubble popped up in the corner saying that Windows has updates.

Sometimes you can just log out and log back in and it will update things without needing to restart.
