Author Topic: My homemade .22  (Read 10948 times)

I'm working on a .22 caliber gun, I thought I'd share it with the forums :)

This was made for a science assignment surprisingly :D

What it's made of:
100% recyclable materials.
PVC Piping
Metal tubing taken off a weed sprayer
Wooden dowling (pine)
7cm Comp. Spring

How it works:
To fire it you pull back the roostering lever and push it into place. (fig 1/2) You then load your bullet into the hole inside the gun. (fig 3) When you want to fire, lift the roostering lever out of the slot and it will fire! (fig 4)

EDIT: For dumb stuffs who don't read the comments:

I ran out of bullets having fun up on my Mum's farm, but I can make a video of it without firing :) I'll get a video of it firing in a week or so.

Actually it is a gun, it fires a .22 caliber round. It works on the basis of a firing pin on the mechanism.

I have fired it.

It hasn't got that much recoil, but half of the recoil it has is from the compression spring.

Molasses, it is hard, it has a large compression spring to make sure it hits the primer hard enough.

The video.

There we go.

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OF OUR CREATION
Please rate it x/10 :)

Are you even old enough to own a gun?

It's not a gun. Gun's work on the premise of explosives. It's a spring-loaded rock launcher.

It's not a .22 unless you're using .22 caliber bullets.

You made a spring loaded rock launcher, not a .22.

Is he gonna come in here, he's gonna kick my ask.

"Put bullet into hole"

I'm pretty sure it shoots bullets.

Oh, oops, I thought TheKhoz was the OP.

Anyway, have you actually fired it yet? It doesn't look... how do you say... safe?

Are you sure the projectile will even leave the barrel? Or will the shell get jammed in the "gun"?

Plus there isn't much gunpowder in a .22 bullet.

Does it fire the bullet, or does it launch it?

Does the bullet actually fire or does it shoot shell and all?

True.

Anyway, it's probably inaccurate as forget.

I could throw a 22 more accurately than this can shoot I bet.
