Author Topic: Two new computers for me!  (Read 1292 times)

Ok, well not exactly new, but they're pretty good.

Remember a while back I posted a topic about getting a computer from my uncle that was filled with tobacco and I almost died from inhaling it?

I got another one. This time, from my aunt, who's house is full of cats.

THERE WAS CAT URINE. IN THE POWER SUPPLY FAN.

She wanted me to fix it. HAH! What a joke.

... But I did fix it. And I'm pulling the same thing that I did with my uncle: "Sorry, Aunt Deborah, your motherboard is friend and your hard drive is corrupted." Now I get a free computer to use as a dedicated server. Woo.

Discuss what to do with an extra computer. Oh, and also, I'm putting Ubuntu 10.4 on it.

Combine them together

Computer one: MDG (Unknown model name)
Processor: Unknown. No information on the CPU.
Motherboard: Intel D845PEMY
Graphics: Integrated, no model name
RAM: 512 MB DDR
Current quality: Alright (Still stinks a bit and there's a corona wrapper in the PSU...)
Errors: I get BSoD Randomly at times. Probably from flaky connections.

Computer Two: HP Compaq (Can't read anything in the dark, typing at night)
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.06 GHz (2 CPUs)
Motherboard: Asus (Unknown)
Graphics: ATi Radeon Xpress 200 series (Integrated)
RAM: 446MB DDR
Current quality: Good (I cleaned almost all of the cat hair and piss).
Errors: None so far! Besides stuffloads of stupid software from my aunt.

GIVE ME THOSE MONITORS
its funny because that is notch's setup

My dad has 2 really nice Mac monitors.

What is even cooler is that he has 2 different computers from different years.

I'd kill to have his new 2010 one, since these new mac computers are great for gaming.

I have quite a few machines laying around, may turn them into a server.

Mainly my Gateway M675PRR and HP nx9110. I also have a ThinkPad T40, but the motherboard flex'd too much and caused the graphics chip to become loose, causing it to crash randomly.

Gateway M675PRR:
Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz Processor (with HyperThreading)
(no RAM at this time, 1 GB DDR max)
ATi Mobility Radeon 9700 64 MB

HP nx9110:
Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz Processor (with HyperThreading)
2 GB DDR RAM
ATi Mobility Radeon 9000 64 MB

IBM ThinkPad T40:
Intel Pentium M 1.6 GHz Processor
256 MB DDR RAM
ATi Mobility Radeon 7500 32 MB

Every one. Since technically it is incredibly simple to install Windows on a partition on a Mac.

Only downside is it takes up more HD space. But I've never had a problem with that before.

I'm just making a recovery disc and backing up their documents, and then I'm gonna install Ubuntu on it. Much faster.

You bitch, you stole her computer :o

Also, motherboards are our friends.
