Netbooks are just glorified calculators.

Jut sayin'.

I have a netbook and this is sort of true. It's good for lightweight internet browsing and little games.

Put linux mint on it like miga said.

Mainly web browsing. No games.
What you need to worry about is if you ever use this for essays or something at school. There are plenty of alternatives to microsoft office, that also work great. The problem is, sometimes you can't be sure a file will look the same in microsoft office, as some other program. Still, if you're a technical person, it shouldn't be a problem.

Windows Vista is not as good as Windows XP, but not as bad as Windows 7. Get Vista.

How is Vista better then 7?

I don't know, but people have tested it.

His computer is so stuffty he can't even run the OS he put on it.

Why on earth would you buy a netbook?
Especially just for web browsing?

Get an old OS then you get a free skifree game

or you could just download it.

Ever thought that maybe it's not the OS? His netbook could not have enough ram/a good enough processor. Or, he could just have a bunch of stuff on there that's slowing him down (you know how netbooks are, they're goddamn fragile)
