Author Topic: Windows 7 driver issues (BARELY SOLVED)  (Read 2569 times)

I installed Windows 7 on my bedside PC.

The problem is, the motherboard is an Intel D845PEMY with integrated graphics, and Intel says that they don't have any Windows 7 drivers for it. I am stuck at 256k colors at around 640x640 resolution. It sucks.

Does anyone know how I would get a driver update for this ol' hunk of junk? I've already looked around quite a bit.

How old is this thing?

It's pretty hilarious how people expect hardware from 2003 to work on an operating system 7 years later with new drivers.

Why did you go to seven?

XP is clearly the best.

From looking it up, it's made for a Pentium 4, and the graphics chip is an Intel 82845G (integrated, super old).

XP is clearly the best.

No, it's not.

EH wrong.

Some vista drivers work on 7, and if it's a clean install it's worth a crack.

vista sucks ass and windows 7 is too new, not all of the kinks were worked out yet so I couldn't suggest it.

but uh, yeah, don't use 2003 tech with 2010 operating systems

Windows 7 is pretty sound actually.

Look, you literally know nothing about anything; please don't try to give advice.

really? i've just noticed its a total whore when it comes to CPU usage, or RAM, or whatever, but thats because I don't have enough memory allocated/enough ram to be modern-friendly.

on the internet we have the ability to express our opinions. i've used windows 7 and vista is a total piece of stuff.

anything new will have errors, and vista is just really stuffty. i don't know exactly why, but I know there IS something about it, and if I wasn't fighting to stay awake I could point it out.

You're speaking out of your ass and only using experience, not statistics, to support your point. Yes, Vista is worse than 7, but XP is not better than Vista and 7 is a perfectly fine operating system.

Your hardware is most likely from 5 years ago; don't expect it to run things well forever.

I've had no problems with Vista at all, and noticed a massive improvement from XP despite most people's opinions.
