Author Topic: Why are you here?  (Read 4354 times)

Why did you join Blockland? And why do you keep continuing to play? How DO you play? (Join servers, make servers, what do you usually do, etc.)

It seems obvious to me that people are in Blockland for a large multitude of reasons. I've been into building with legos for years, so Blockland appealed to me as a person. (Much cheaper and easier than legos, too. x_x) Whereas my friends joined because I was playing, and showed them that the avatars made funny noises when they died. And then I see people online who are newer to the Internet, and wanted to join because they were interested by the idea of building with other people, so they joined more for the social aspect of it all.

As of right now, I play to do exactly what I joined for. I want to build. I either join a server for building, or I make my own server to allow other people to build with me. But Role Playing has nothing to do with it, and DMs never entertain me for very long. So that's purely what I do. (Besides, with the kind of community that Blockland gets, I'm not exactly eager to talk to them all and be social. I'm not a very "COME AND TALK TO ME PLZ PLZ PLZ" kind of person on Blockland.)

I was just looking for your fridge.

I came initially for a couple of reasons.  I used to play with lego a lot, like you, so that side appealed to me.  However, I was also drawn by the social aspect.  I liked the idea of people building and contributing together.  I keep playing in an attempt to get better, at building, scripting, and other such things.  Actually, what I find the most interesting is that when I started playing, events made no sense to me.  Now I find that they are the best part, and by far are the part of Blockland that I am best at.  Still, there's always something to learn!

got lost looking for roblox

no, seriously!

decided to buy blockland anyway because it's awesome

i downloaded the demo, but the preloaded saves just looked so awesome...

Well, when a man and a women love each other...

Why did you join Blockland? Because I had nothing better to do and enjoy Legos.
And why do you keep continue to play? I've no idea.
How DO you play? With a keyboard and a mouse.

I joined cause my Roblox account got stolen and Halo was getting boring.
I continue to play because.... Halo is still boring, I guess. And I like eventing, it's like scripting for people who don't want to learn to practically speak/write in a second language.
I play mostly in single player, working on different builds to use when I decide to test my hosting again. I play online mainly with a friend of mine, not very much since now I can't use IRC for whatever reason, so I never know when he's on.

This sort of had a lot to do with it as well. When I joined, I don't remember there being many preloaded saves (I only remember House being there...) but when I looked at the picture in the ad, and the pictures that play by on the main menu, they really inspired me. Now of course I couldn't build anything even near decent at that point, but still, it sets a goal for people like me. :<

I came here because of the v0002 clan I was a part of, then I had a key so I never bothered to leave.

There seems to be one of these topics that asks "Why do you play Blockland" or "When/How did you discover Blockland" almost weekly, so I'm just gonna start copypasta-ing previous posts that I've said on older, similar threads.

"Back when I played Roblox in 2007, a bunch of handicaps from this 'Blockland' game spammed the hell out of the Roblox forums. I was in like 6th grade at the time, so I just treated it like

'Oh my god, another lego-based building game! Roblox and Blockland must be at war and all people who aren't robloxians are handicapped and must die!'

Buuut as time went on, I matured, and the majority of Roblox' community didn't. I tried the BL demo, thought it sucked, went back to Roblox. Eventually Roblox just got so horrible that I decided anything could be better, and so I went and bought Blockland around January '09. stuff's been SO cash ever since."

Well, when a man and a women love each other...

so is blockland a women or a man?

I was actually looking for Roblox like Bushido, but then, luckily for me, one of my friends Messaged me on Yahoo Messenger telling me about how he just found Blockland.

I have been playing ever since. I love the social part. And how I have advanced so much since then.

I started out like this. HEY GUSS LETS DO SOEMTHING FUN!!!

I now I actually think I am a very advanced player.
