There is nothing about opening the console in the FAQ, smartass.

On-topic: First try looking to see if the tilde key was unmapped in the games options. If it IS mapped, go to Device Manager, and under Human Interface Devices you should see "eHome Infrared Receivers" or "eHome Infrared Transceivers", whatever one it is, disable it. The console should start working.

Vista likes to do this to mine also.

Solution:
  • Open your Start Menu and click on "Control Panel" (If needed, search for it in the bar at the bottom)
  • Click on "Classic View" if it is not already selected
  • Click on "Device Manager" after the list populates
  • Find "Human Interface Devices" and click the plus sign
  • Right-click on "Microsoft eHome Infared Transceiver"
  • Select "Uninstall" - this is completely safe to do

I disagree.

Oops. It was at the very bottom, so I missed it while combing over.
