Author Topic: Squeeky Violin  (Read 1326 times)

Well I am trying to play the hardest song for solo violin. It's called Chaconne(Ciaconna) and it's by Bach. The only problem is, when I play the chords that have the high open E, my violin hits a harmonic and squeeks. I know I am a little experienced to perform the piece with 7 years under my belt but I really want to know whats causing the squeek!
My finger makes no contact with it at all!  So if there are any violinists here please help me. Please don't be trollin with "itz bcause u suck!" or " itz bcause ur parents dnt luv u!" or "fake and gay". If you don't know the song here is the link:

great violin and im playing in tune

what about when you play just a doublestop with open A and E?

no it squeeks on the chords

they are pretty new

Try wiping all rosin off your strings, and use less pressure when hitting double stops. If your having trouble resonating the notes play closer to the bridge or try playing a little bit harder on the other string.

Not a violin expert, but I play the guitar and sometimes I manage to hit a harmonic note when I don't have a finger positioned correctly behind the fret while playing a chord.  I know violins don't have frets, but you might not be applying enough pressure to the string or something along those lines.

I tried pressing hardly and crisply on the E string with my bow and it worked! =D Thanks all, locking.
