WAIT. STOP RIGHT THERE.

Do NOT buy the old 360s. Save up and buy a 360 Slim, otherwise you'll be laughed at.

Would you rather have a moderate working laptop or none at all?

(NOTE, in this situation you do not have any other computers to use)

This is to represent if he cannot afford the Xbox360 Slim.

Which I can't.
Plus, We already got it. Works fine. Every time someone gets off, we dive it 15 minutes of cooldown before playing again.

One of the worst things is, when we went back to gamestop to get some memory, we saw a BRAND NEW 360 ARCADE FOR $150. WHICH WE COULD AFFORD. PLUS A HARDDRIVE AND TWO GAMES. [/caps]

Xbox arcades suck.

Xbox arcades suck.
They're just xboxes without gear. You can outfit them with a HDD and they'd be the same thing, all it is, is a package.

The games with the arcade aren't really good.

Microsoft's solution to the red ring problem, remove the red ring and put a dot in. That's about all they did to the slim. I'm not buying an Xbox until it has a 100% chance of not failing on its loving face, every body I know who's owned one has had there's fail. I'm not a PS3 Fanboy but at least the loving thing doesn't die and will still be around for another 5 years in power as well as being a blu-ray player then a HD-DVD whore who will never go further then Xbox.

PC for life.
Actually, microsoft did quite a bit of work to prevent the hardware in the xbox slim from dying, such as combining both the cpu and gpu onto one chip using a 45 nm manufacturing process, as well as adding a new cooler that sucks in cool air from outside of the case to keep the cpu/gpu combo cool. I'm not trying to say its that great though, any decent gaming PC will smash the performance of any console, I'm just pointing out that you left out some pretty important facts.
