Author Topic: Curse filters on TV?  (Read 1447 times)

I've heard alot of shows on truTV recently stop bleeping out words like 'stuff' and 'forget' sometimes. At other times I heard them bleep it out. What's going on?

Bleeping costs money

People that make TV shows are getting cheap

Production errors.

I was watching an "uncensored and uncut" version of a show on Comedy Central.
They bleeped out "stuff" and "forget."

There's a court case going on about whether or not it's constitutional for the FCC to censor profanity. I hope it reaches the SCOTUS so people can actually what they want on TV.

Like porkchop samwiches

Freedom of speech man.

It is stupid to spend money to censor things.

Speaking of censoring, I've noticed alot more boobs on Youtube videos. =\

I've seen a few redneck TV shows that beep out darn and dang. In Australia TV shows are only shown at certain times and the rating system chooses whether if the language is appropriate or not. PG(Not the same as US PG) can have 1 word like stuff or forget, M(M = US PG) can have something like 10 or 20, any show thats on during 3pm to 8pm that had any swearing gets beeped only because its rated G or PG. Other then that its fine.

Who said they were spending money? It's probable that the censor is an intern, or has some other job to do besides just censoring non-live broadcasts. The amount of money they're spending on it is trivial, if they're even spending money at all.

Here's a link to an article about the court case if anybody is interested:

I hate censorship if I was to make something on the television and the FCC starfishs censored it I would be pretty mad.

If shows were not censored though, they would seem more real. Life is not censored.

I hope it reaches the SCOTUS so people can actually what they want on TV.

But what if someone accidentally a show and then everyone will the country or the whole ocean?
