Port Forwarding From a Switch?

Apparently, my dad says we have no router. We have a switch. :/ Does anyone know if it's possible to host with a switch?

A switch is passive, internet activity just passes through it without any limits. A router will have security and other features such as wireless connectivity.

You don't need to port forward.
