One could easily say that mainstream music has become blurred together and just outright garbage, but not all music nowadays. I'll just make a short list of bands I listen to that are either new, or are still alive today that have amazing talent:

Dream Theater,
Pavor,
Spiral Architect,
Behold... The Arctopus,
Beneath the Massacre,
Brain Drill,
Three,
Meshuggah,
Psyopus.

That's just naming a few.

Jack white (he has multiple bands, such as the white stripes and racentours)

At least we still have the blues!
