I'm currently downloading something from a torrent that is completely legal (srsly.) is there a significant risk to this?

If it's legitimate, you have no worries. The fact that you're asking leads me to believe that you're downloading something illegally, and just lied.

You're just downloading the file from other people that have it, rather than a server hosting it.
