This is a petition poll to unban Niven. He was banned for breaking "Rule #5:
5. Do not plea for sympathy
- Do not make posts about how you are leaving the forums. Just leave.
Niven posted in t he forum that he was going to be having a going away party, per a friends request he changed the title to "Farewell Party", however, the content of that thread stated clearly that he was not leaving for good, he would be coming back, but before he left he wanted to have a get together with all of his friends.
"Farewell" does not mean "goodbye forever"... here is the textbook definition of "Farewell":
When you read Niven's post IN CONTEXT, it means "Fare thee well for a while, and return safely." It was not "Fare thee well and Adieu".
Niven's thread was taken OUT OF CONTEXT and generalized, but to all of us who know and enjoy the English language and the written word, it was obvious that he was not leaving, it was not a "farewell and adieu" thread. I "farewell party" is a "going away party" for those who will be returning after the deeds of their departure have been fulfilled.
To those of you who are in support of Niven being unbanned, please vote on the poll. All Niven wants to do is a have "Block party" with his friends before he leaves on his journey. What harm would that be?
I have only included "YES" votes in the poll as this is a petition, and those who do not wish to sign should not cast their vote.
