So are LaVeyans basically told/believed to be worshiping themselves? I might be taking it in the wrong direction from what I read, I'm not sure.
Partly, yes, but not as extreme as you're most likely thinking. By 'worshiping' themselves, they are saying that in every stride they take, they are responsible. Rather than thanking a god for a fortunate situation, they are thanking themselves for working hard enough to achieve it. When they want something done, they don't pray for a god to do it, they go and do it themselves and take pride in it.
