I was watching a show once, where there were cards with symbols inside boxes, and when the computer's webcam or other video device viewed that symbol, through the software matched with the set of symbols, it would display an image. For example, the card that had a box in it, when viewed on the software, showed the guy turning the card around and a green 3D box coming out of where the symbol was, and another had a tea pot on the card.

The technology was found, and this topic is now a discussion of it. Augmented Reality uses a camera that can recognize symbols, and when the video is put on a computer monitor, a 3D object is displayed over the glyph.

It's called Augmented Reality.

I remember HP had something like this on their website a couple years ago as a promotion or something. I don't know if it's still there, but it had you print out a piece of paper with a glyph on it and then hold it in front of your webcam (if you had one) and it would display an animation on the glyph in real-time. It was pretty awesome.

It's called Augmented Reality.
Thanks, apparently that show was the only one to call it Optical Glyph Tracking. This is really cool :D

Lego did something similar :o

they made a psp game that uses that kind of tech, called invisimals.

Youtube vid

They have that in the Lego Stores, You hold the Box infront of this SCanner and it shows a 3D animation of the set
