NOOOO! Also, I guess this is going to be my main, or second to main clan, after what happened with Krypt. But, I guess my main will have to be BoD, because they respect me. I think. :c
What happened?

Sorry for the wait... Finally more work on my story. And I gave it a title:

Makanix

Chapter 1
Aboard the Argos

"This is not good..." I said to myself as I ran down the main corridor towards the control bay. As I was running, I glanced out one of the windows and saw the earth. The view was soon cut off by a passing cruiser. The chrome plated walls shook and steam burst from the pipes as our starship Argos was shot down by an unknown enemy fleet. Their ships were made of some sort of glossy black metal, probably an alloy. It had no viewports, only mounted cameras attached to their laser cannons. The same cannons that were firing at our ship. A laser hit the outer wall to the left of where I was standing, almost breaking through. I continued down the hall before I was spotted and fired at.

The automatic doors opened to the control bay where dozens of high ranking crew members stressfully typed away on their touch monitors trying to get the ship to regain power. The captain, leader of the clan ARES, was in his chair on the upper deck staring out the window at the attacking fleet. I looked too. They had just destroyed the Flare, my own personal ship I had built the month before. I was the head engineer on the Argos. The captain, known only by Comrade, noticed I was there and turned to me.

"Yes, what is the damage, Makanix?"

I hesitated for a moment because I knew he would not like to hear this. "The engines were hit with a torcreep, sir. They are currently in flames and impossible to repair."

He turned back, staring out the window again. He was an average height for a captain, maybe somewhere around 6 or 7 foot. He had short black hair and looked like hadn't shaved for a few days. Compared to me, he was a strong and brave man. I was rather short, about 5 and a half foot. My long brown hair hung over my eyes and was held down by my engineer's goggles I wore on my forehead. I was covered in oil from the engines and my uniform had a huge tear in the left pant leg. "What do we do now?"

"We have no other choice..." Comrade flipped open a glass case on his chair and pressed the red flashing button inside. The room lit up red and the people at the controls worked faster than before. A hatch opened in the floor and a steering yolk rose from it in front of the captain. He switched into manual pilot. He grabbed the controls and turned to me. "Take everybody on this ship and evacuate into the pods!"

"What are you doing? There's no engines!"

There was a long pause. Comrade turned to me. "I'm the captain of this ship... I don't need engines. Now go!"

I nodded and ran out the door. The others in the room followed. I ordered them to alert everyone and I would prepare the escape pods. They saluted me and ran off as ordered. That's a first.

I opened the first escape pod and checked the conditions. The oxygen supply was low so I loaded another canister into it. The rest were operational and the crew members were coming down the hall. The whole crew. I loaded them all into the pods with just enough room to close the aperture doors. I got into the last one and closed the door behind me. I waited to make sure all of the other pods deployed before taking off myself. The small egg shaped pod unlatched from the ship and floated away. The engine kicked in and moved me further away until the entire Argos was visible from my window. I watched as Comrade tried to pilot the ship. Suddenly, a large fireball shot out of the back of the ship, breaking off the thrusters. The captain had triggered the fuel room to open into the burning engines. The explosion propelled the ship straight into the enemy mother ship, destroying both ships. I feared that Comrade was dead.

I watched the final explosion as my pod fell back into the earth's atmosphere. My pod shook and heated up as I passed through the thermosphere and landed somewhere in the Atlantic along with the other pods.

My pod was empty except for one other person. I had taken the prison pod that contained the most dangerous criminal on earth. Poiuyt. At one point, he was my friend and an ordinary citizen. He studied archeology at iEvent, a highly respected clan that specialized in hyper engineering, what I do. One night during his studies, he made a discovery. An unusual form of energy which he harnessed and used to try and overthrow the iEvent leader, Tom. He succeeded but was nearly destroyed by his own powers. Soon the magic wore off and he returned to his weak self. Tom, after years of reconstruction of his body, returned to be the leader of iEvent, but now is half mechanical with robotic arms and legs. He must also wear a helmet to survive.

Poiuyt remained cryogenically frozen in the back of the pod while a rescue team loaded us into their ship. I quickly got out of the pod and was greeted by Ting, the co-leader of ARES.

"Makanix. We just got word from the captain."

"What? But how?"

"The Captain has his ways."

In the corner of the control room, a teleport station lit up and Comrade walked out of it.
Ting stood up straight and saluted. I did the same.

Comrade simply nodded at us. He then turned to me. "Makanix. You have shown great bravery and you should know that the crew of the Flare has survived as well. It was they who rescued me. But, unfortunately both ships have been destroyed."

"Shall I begin work on a new ship?"

"There will be no need of that. I think you deserve a break. You've trained your engineers well. I'm sure they can handle it."

"So, what do I do now?"

"ARES will be going into hibernation for repairs. You are being relieved of your duties until we reopen."

"So I'm being fired?"

"No, relieved. I'm giving you a break to go and enjoy yourself and I will not let you decline it."

"Very well then... I guess I'm off."

"From all of the crew at ARES, and I personally, thank you."

I nodded with a smile and walked out. When the ship landed at the main ARES base, I said goodbye to everyone, one last time, and walked out.

Chapter 2
Tom and iEvent

A few months after my absence from ARES, a new ship had been built, but I was never called back. I saw an opening for iEvent and wrote up an application, including diagrams of my work and technologies they may not have. It took a while, but I was finally accepted. Tom, the leader, did not like me much. Even though he had a computer screen for a face, I could still feel him staring at me when I was working.

iEvent was more of a business corporation. They put me in a cubicle on the far side of the intern building at their campus. I did nothing. I sat there and typed whatever they gave me, then played games until they gave me something else. I knew I had to get out of there. I made friends with many of my co-workers and other higher employees. Soon I was one of the most liked people in the clan. Tom still didn't pay much attention to me, but at least I knew he didn't hate me anymore. Then the time came. The Co-Leader elections.

During my work hour, or whatever you wanted to call it, I snuck into the auditorium and began assembling my podium. There were three others there of higher officials I've never met, but one name stood out. The podium was a large metallic stand with sides. On the front was the name TING etched into the plating. The auditorium lights turned on. I looked back to see Tom standing in the main entrance.

"Thinking of running for Co-Leader?" He said with a slight anger in his voice.

I hesitated to answer. I knew I was supposed to be in my cubicle. "Um... Yeah."

Tom turned his attention to the other podiums. "I see you've noticed Ting is running as well."

"What happened to ARES?"

"Comrade decided enough was enough and shut it down. Most of its members joined a new organization called BAN. The rest of them came here."

"And their ship?"

"Sitting in a hangar."

I stood there holding the wrench I was using, which I placed on my unconstructed podium. I looked up at Tom. The face on his screen helmet stared seriously at me.

"Well I'll let you get back to work."

I nodded at started to go back to the intern building.

"Where are you going? I meant work on your podium..."

I turned around to see his serious face had become a slight smile.

"And good luck to you!" He said as he walked out.

I stood there confused on what just happened. I quickly got over it and continued work on my podium.

A week later, many signs and posters were scattered throughout the halls of the campus. They all read: VOTE FOR, and then the candidate's name FOR CO-LEADER. Many of the lower members of iEvent, including myself, did not have access to the banner printers in the main building. All we had were the standard size black-and-white printers that were used for printing documents. Since my building hardly ever does important work, the printers sat there collecting dust in the break room.

So the interns and I had a great idea. The next day, I made up a simple poster. It read: "Vote Makanix for co-leader." Nothing exciting or flashy, just black text on an 8.5x11 paper. I went and made about 50 copies or so and passed them out to the other workers. As they were called into the main building, they taped one to the wall.

By the next day, the posters were everywhere. I was sitting at my desk when my phone rang. I had built my phone myself. It was installed into my cube, a small metal device that did just about everything. The call was on video and Tom appeared as a hologram above the little box.

"Makanix, would you mind bringing me a cup of coffee?"

"Sure."

"And don't put anything in it."

I nodded and the hologram disappeared. I knew he wanted to talk to me about something. He never calls me to get his coffee. I went to the break room, filled a foam cup with coffee, and headed to the main building.

Outside the campus was a large grassy field. On the right side of the intern building was a pond with a bridge that led to the tram car station. I kept walking past that until I reached the main building. Tom's office was in the back on the second floor. On the front of the building was a large empty room. The soon-to-be Co-Leader's room. The entrance to the building lead to the lobby, where two hallways on either side went the members' rooms. There were two staircases on either sides of the entrance. The left one led to Tom's office, the other led to the empty room. I headed up the stairs and turned left. The first door I came to had a name plate that read: "Dr H." What did the H stand for? Horrible? I laughed to myself and continued down the hallway.

The next room read Tom on the door. I knocked and voice from within yelled "Come in!"

I walked in to see Tom sitting at his desk. His screen face had a slight smile. I handed him the coffee and he set it on the table.

"Do you know why you're here Makanix?"

"Um... To bring you your coffee?" I said jokingly, hoping to lighten the mood a little. It did nothing.

"Don't worry, it's nothing bad, I just called you here because I need to talk to you about the Co-Leader elections."

I let out a huge sigh of relief and sat down in the chair at the front of his desk.

"Yes, I was reading through some papers, and I found out that you need to be a full member of iEvent and must be paid to run for co-leader."

"But I don't get paid."

"You do now. You're being promoted to head of technology. Congratulations!"
He reached over the desk with his robotic hand and shook mine. "You start tomorrow, that gives you today to clean out your stuff and move into your new office. Your office is number 163."

“Thank you sir!” I said excitedly shaking his hand.

“Oh, and you can have this coffee if you want, I don’t drink coffee.” He laughed, then handed me the cup.

I walked out of that room no longer an intern, but a full member of iEvent, and with coffee! I ran back to my cubicle and told everyone. They were excited for me and helped pack up my things and move into my new office. My office was down the west wing of the main building. The carpet on that side was green with cyan trim, unlike the other side, which was cyan with green. I had a standard white wooden door, unlike the other rooms, which had their own custom doors. The office to the right of mine was Ting’s. It looked as though he had brought a door from one of the old ARES ships and installed it in the wall. It was vacuum sealed!

I opened my door to an empty room. The carpet matched the hallways and the walls were also a blank white. There were two windows that looked out into the distance. I could see the tram car rails that stretched from the station at the campus to the one in town. The room came with a desk, which I set my stuff up on. I installed my computer and placed my filing cabinet in the corner. I sat at the desk chair and stared out the window at a passing tram car. Tomorrow was the Co-leader elections, and I wanted to take my mind off of it.

The next day, the tram car was flooded with people coming from town to the auditorium to see the elections. iEvent was a big company, so there were a lot of people I had never seen there before. I was on stage standing at my podium along with the other candidates. The curtains were closed and there was a dim glow coming from the lights on Ting’s podium. My podium was made with a wooden frame and metal plating around it. It had to overhead banner like the others, only a sign I etched into the front that simply said “Mx”, for Makanix.

The curtains opened and I saw the huge audience that filled every seat in the room. There was a platform above the center entrance where Tom stood. There were seats behind him for the leaders of other clans. I saw Comrade sitting in the seat to his left, and to his right was Raeyok, leader of the clan Krypt. Unlike ARES and iEvent, Krypt was more of a design group. They weren’t at strict as iEvent, nor were they a large organization like ARES.

Tom started the elections with a short speech. “Hello everyone! Welcome to the iEvent co-leader elections! All I have to say is that these people worked extremely hard to get to where they stand now up on that stage. May the best man win.” The election started out with a few simple questions. The “how do you plan to…” and “if you become co-leader…” sorta stuff. I answered them all as honestly as I could. But really, they give you like ten seconds to answer them. I just said what I could think of. To my right, Ting was doing the same as I was, answering the best he could, some better than I could have. Tom questioned the rest of the candidates. They looked like they were high ranking business people who were sent in to run. I don’t even think they cared. After about an hour of being questioned by a computer screen, the audience took a vote. The higher ranking officials of iEvent took a separate vote. It all came down to this.

Tom was handed a slip of paper and he returned to his stand along with the other leaders. “After counting the votes, I’m sorry to say there was a machine error. Commander Ting had won the most in both iEvent and public votes, but to be sure, We will have to take a recount.”

What? All that waiting… for a recount? Oh well, I knew that couldn’t be that bad of an error. Ting won. That was it. I sat down on the step of my podium and stared at the huge “i” on the stage wall. I looked over at the others, One was still standing, but looking rather upset. The other had his head down on the podium top. Ting was standing normally. I saw a slight smirk on his face. He knew he had won.

Tom returned with a regular sheet of printer paper this time. He got back up to his microphone and made the final announcement. “We have fixed the error and the recount showed that only the names were mixed up. The new co-leader of iEvent is…” There was a long dramatic pause, then… “The new co-leader is Makanix!”

I was still sitting, but I launched myself back up and turned around to the face the audience. They were all applauding me. I won! I saw Tom with his digital smile facing me. That means I’ll get a new office.  Again!

While I was celebrating to myself, I looked over. There I saw Ting. He was looking down, a look of disappointment on his face, followed by sadness. Of all the years I worked for ARES, this was the first Time I had ever seen Ting upset. Actually, I think it was probably the only time he was upset in his life. I looked back at the crowd. The loudness of their clapping seemed to fade away in my ears. All I could think about was what I would actually do as co-leader. I’m no business man. I’ve worked on a spaceship fixing engines! Then I knew what I was going to do.

The back wall opened to reveal the final Podium, A large wooden stand about 8 foot off the ground with golden letters that said “Co-Leader”. I stood in the podium for a while until it got silent. The clapping stopped and the people sat down to listen to their new co-leader.

“Um… I had finally thought this through for the first time on my way up here.” I couldn’t believe I was doing this. I had just won. “As my first act as co-leader of iEvent… I step down from my position… And give co-leader to Ting, who truly deserves it.”

Tom was furious. “Makanix! How could you just let this go?”

My final words before I stepped off the podium. I grabbed the microphone and stared straight at Tom with a smile. “I’m just an engineer.” I walked off. I went to my office and sat in my chair. I didn’t stare out the window. I just sat and looked down. There was a paper on my desk. It was one of my posters for co-leader. Actually, it was a lot of them. Someone has taken my posters down… And I still won? I gave that away, I gave up co-leader of one of the biggest companies in the world, but… I still won.

I am thinking about writing a rant about my school and how it treats me as a Geek. Seems like it's okay for the people I just met, but the classmates from my 8th grade class like to continue memes from the old school. I really think they should loving kill themselves.
