Not a religious debate thread, the purpose of this is to discuss your opinions on the Mosque that is going to be built very close to the old WTC site. (For those of you who don't know or are just handicapped, a Mosque is a Muslim place of worship and as Muslims were allegedly responsible for 9/11, this is being seen as an insult to America).
I myself am not an intolerant person, I have no problem with the Muslims, and I understand their desire to have a place of worship in New York City, but I find it really stupid that they would not expect this to be offensive. I am not personally offended by this, but as I see it, the families of those who lost their lives have a right to protest this.
An example, though not quite the same, imagine if a white supremest group set up a head quarters across the street from the hotel Martin Luther King was shot at. People would be loving rioting. I understand this isn't the same but its the only thing similar I can think of.
The point is, that regaurdless what some may say, this is in many ways disrespectful to those affected by 9/11...
