Author Topic: Good gaming pc for around/under $400?  (Read 2356 times)

Can someone find me a gaming pc for around or under $400? I probably don't need it to be perfect but I at least want to be able to play Oblivion, Fallout 3, TF2, Gmod, Portal, etc. on medium/high FPS. If its not around 400, at least try to find a cheap one that my parents will consider buying.

Under $400? I'm sorry but thats most likely going to happen.

Get a motherboard that supports PCI Express 2.0. That'll be like 200 dollars. Then get a 9400GT for the video card, that's 50 dollars. Get a single core processor that has 3.0ghz, that's about 50 more dollars maybe? Yeah you still need to worry about ram and psu and all that so you're going to have to push your budget.

I've found this site to be helpful for finding some good builds.

They also have a nice selection of medium end and higher end gaming pcs.

What? Impossible. Unless he means that you'll be getting 5 fps on lowest settings... :/

Highly unlikely you'll find one for under $400.

My dad's computer cost $400, and it sucks.

I made myself (I believe to be) a decent gaming computer for roughly $600, but that was excluding a monitor keyboard and mouse (which may have added another hundred or so).
Nothing extremely fancy, but can play the games I have at highest settings.

I'm using an Optiplex GX620 with a Radeon HD 4350 slapped in.

It's quite fast, though I'm not sure how much it costs.
Things like TF2 and L4D2 can run at max/really high settings with 50 FPS.

The graphics card was like $120, but I got it on sale for $60.

My friend's Asus is very good. and it cost him ~$300

If you are fine with playing demanding games from 2006 and under, you will find a good PC. Otherwise, no.

What about if I already had this stuff, what could be added to make it into a gaming pc?

Processor:Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 450 @ 2.20GHz 2.20GHz
Installed Memory(RAM):3.00 GB(2.75 GB usable)
System Type:64-bit Operating System

I haven't found anything else about my computer so... those are the only details I can get.

You don't need 64bit OS for 3GB of RAM.

My computer was 600 dollars, and with a 60 dollar video card upgrade and it works great as a gaming PC. (monitor and speakers not included)

For 400 dollars, you could get a nice netbook.

Is nvidia geforce 7050 integrated good? Or what should I get.

Integrated =/= good.
