Good. I'm kind of surprised that more people said Fallout, then. I have played Fallout 3, though, and I love it. <3
Honestly if FNV is half as good as Fallout 3 it'll still be an extraordinary game.

If it's exactly the same as Fallout 3 (with a new setting of course, just the same in terms of gameplay) minus VATS and with better combat it may be the best game ever made.

If F:NV is twice as goos as F:3, it will still be boring. I've had it sitting on top of my TV for almost 2 years, still have never beaten it. I install it from time to time, only to get bored of it ~5 hours in. I forget about it for a while, then finally get around to un-installing it.

Just my two cents.

I thought/think it's really fun. I like how it's freelance and doesn't have like a locked-in storyline.

Holy stuff man, how long does it take you to do stuff? I think I could beat Fallout 3 in two hours if I went right from Vault 101 to 112. Expand for spoilers, but the actual progression of the Fallout 3 story is pretty damn short, IMO.
As soon as you leave 101, if you swing around go to 112 and pick up your dad then you can go from 112 to Project Purity. After the Enclave raids it and kills your dad, you end up at the citadel. From there you go to Vault 87, get the GECK, get raided by the Enclave, end up at the Raven Rock, go back to the Citadel and storm project purity. game over. Most of your time is locked up in travelling, vault 87, and raven rock. Combat might also be difficult at low levels.

The Fallout 3 main story is quite short, yes, but in between actual story quests you get so caught up in other stuff happening in the Fallout world that the story seems really long, lol.

Oh yeah and I heard GTA4 gets boring after awhile, and that the online is practically dead.

And is it me or do the F:NV graphics in the trailers look worse than F3's graphics?

Yeah, in my first file I played for like ten hours before I even tried getting to GNR.

Also, as for the graphics, it looks on par with F3. I doubt they did much updating the engine. It also, from looking at the trailer, looks like they did away with VATS. Cool.

I dunno, the models and textures just look lower quality to me.

I don't really like the idea of aiming down the sights either, it just didn't seem to work well in the gameplay footage.

Honestly I'd rather have better FPS mechanics and no VATS with some stuffty ironsights than F3's combat.

Did they add sights?!  What the forget were they thinking?!  I'm tired of sights in every single loving game now.  VATS seems much better than stuffty sights.

I love VATS though, nothing's cooler than seeing your rifle bullet go slo-mo into a ghoul's skull.

Oh and they kept VATS, I remember reading about it somewhere.

"hurr I'm going to have the only alternative to a broken FPS-esque combat system be an even more broken RPG combat system that we tried to rip out of a turn based combat system even though your enemies are just shooting at you but that's impossible for you to do hurr".

Yeah the slow-mo stuff is cool but read my above criticism. Seriously, Fallout 3 would've been so much better I didn't go up to someone, point a pistol at their head, fire, have it say "xxxxx head crippled" but still have around 90% health. It makes no loving sense and it seems like they tried to rip it out of a D&D esque "roll for your hit chance, roll for your damage, roll for their defense, roll for their evade, etc." system.

Maybe you could get rid of VATS and add a slow motion effect? I dunno.

Take Jet and everything goes slow motion and multicolored.

I'm just tired of every single loving fps including sights.  It's all the same now.  And VATS was for people who still wanted the RPG style system.  I find it very entertaining too.

So you're pissed that the norm is now realism over crosshairs?

VATS is cool simply because of the slow motion stuff but honestly, it's a cheap way to do combat, makes no sense in the context of Fallout 3 (over Fallout 1 & 2), and gets old fast.

Tell me, how would you rather FPS games did aiming?

Honestly I haven't finished GTAIV but I've finished GTASA and that does have a pretty deep storyline. There are a fair amount of missions that are like "okay go and blow this up or kill this person or steal this car etc." but the storyline told through the cutscenes and stuff is good.
The only bad thing about GTA:SA is how handicapped the people in the cutscenes act

"yo dawg so i herd you like to shoot dawgs so we should go do dat yo brother"
