Props are ok if they are used for things that you can't build in blockland. For example, a knife or fork. But really anything besides you can build in BL. Instead of using a prop to build a fridge, make your own, same with a computer etc.
Like JVS. Most 'doors' that are evented are quite spammy and ugly and so these doors help the build look more nicer/complete. While as props most of the time, can be easily made with bricks showing how you lack in the skills of being creative. It's fine maybe for an RP to reduce brickcount etc. But they shouldn't being used at all for a clan application or an otherwise nice build.
