Author Topic: Magic: The Gathering 2011 gameday  (Read 2960 times)

Today, a few friends and I will be visiting our local "gaming location" to play in the tournament. Everyone that attends gets a special promo card, the top eight people get another promo card, and the winner gets some certificate and is listed on the website.

My friends and I have just started to really get into magic (We've had the cards for years, but nobody every played or had enough), so we're not sure how our decks will fare. We all have vastly different decks and tactics. For example, one of my friend plays with a Green Elf deck, my other friend uses a White Soldier deck, my other friend has a Black Vampire deck, my other friend has a Blue deck, one of my brothers has a Red deck, and my other brother has Green deck. Meanwhile I have a Black Artifact deck. Hopefully one of us can make it to the top 8 or higher.

Will anyone else be attending?

I'll update afterwords with possible winnings and such.

Anyway, discuss MtG.

Sounds like a cool game.

I have never heard of it.

I am kinda in to Yughioh, but not all this new crap.
And pokemon confuzles me

You've seriously never heard of Magic?

The game has been around since or possible before yugioh.

Now I wanna look into this cool Magic stuff.

I've always enjoyed Yu-Gi-Oh!, but I've started to really like magic. There is so much more depth to it then getting high attack monsters on the field asap and backing them up with Spell/Trap. As for Yu-Gi-Oh!, those new Syncro cards are crap. Ruining the game, I say. But I think all my old cards can still beat them. I made a completely defensive deck that is about loading the field with 4* or lower monsters with high defense (at least 2000) in the early game so that I can't be dealt damage. Then, using Spell/Trap, I attack their life points directly while adding to my own. I also have Spell/Trap that help me defend such as Scapegoats (Makes 4 0att/0def token monsters that act as a buffer) and Gravity Bind (All 4* or higher monsters can't attack) so the opponent can't attack me with his or her monster cards while I use my non-monster cards to finish them off.

Before.

You'll get hooked.

I used to be into Yu-Gi-Oh. I was more of the strategy type than the full-out attack type of kid. I was 7 and I dueled with ALOT of people. I remember I dueled with my dad's friend's son, and I beat him. He was like, 16 at the moment. :3

Wagic the Homebrew for psp <3

If people in my area were into magic, I would do it. Noone likes card games anymore. >:C

there's this kid I know who spends all of his money on yugioh cards

I love MTG.

I;m in the game day as well, I'm using my black/blue modular artifact deck.

I suck at it. I have a black and white deck but it always gets beaten by the ai :C

It looks cool but I don't want to invest in another card game. So many hundreds of dollars wasted on yugioh D:
